1. Composition
Nitrocellulose lacquer: This is a single-component paint; only the main paint and thinner are needed.
Polyester paint: This is a two-component paint; in addition to the main paint and thinner, a curing agent is also required.
2. Paint Film Quality
Nitrocellulose lacquer: Low solid content, thin single-layer film, soft film, not wear-resistant, lower film hardness than polyester paint, but the film color is full, dries quickly, the film is delicate, and the feel is very good. It is often used indoors and produces a very good effect for facade decoration.
Polyester paint: High solid content, high film fullness, high film hardness, brittle, turns white after impact, but it is very wear-resistant and high-temperature resistant, and the film is brighter.
3. Construction
At present, polyester paint is used more, mainly because it appeared earlier. Brush application is more common, easily leaving brush marks, but these can be made very faint by sanding with water sandpaper. The construction site requirements are not high, and the construction is convenient and easy.
Nitrocellulose lacquer dries quickly and has a thin film; spraying is generally used, or two coats of spraying.
The labor cost of polyester paint is also relatively cheaper than nitrocellulose lacquer. In other words, the construction requirements of nitrocellulose lacquer are higher than those of polyurethane paint.
